Where AI meets Self-Advocacy
The most under-served user in healthcare AI is the patient. Most of the field’s energy has gone into clinician copilots, back-office automation, and pipeline acceleration. Meanwhile, the patient gets a half-baked login portal with partial access to their information. The new generation of AI tooling is starting to change that, meeting patients where they are – in the kitchen at 11pm googling the symptom they can’t quite name.
The job is actually digital coaching, not record retrieval. It’s helping people describe what they’re feeling and stay engaged in their care in between visits. Done well, it strengthens the patient-clinician relationship. It can surface the right questions to bring to the next appointment, which can alter how providers respond. Ultimately, these tools can improve how patients show up, what actually gets exchanged in the time they share, and improve visit quality to combat common phenomenon like white coat syndrome and treatment inertia.
Attendees will learn:
- A grounded view of how patient-centered AI is being deployed today to support symptom articulation, visit readiness, and disease literacy outside the clinic
- What AI-powered conversational companions reveal about digital coaching across the care journey
- Where these approaches are making a meaningful difference for patients: better disease understanding, more confidence, sharper self-advocacy, and more useful patient–provider conversations
- What it takes to deploy and scale fit-for-purpose AI technology responsibly, including the trade-offs between patient agency, safety, trust and regulation.
